What the numbers mean

Labor is hours on site times your loaded hourly rate. Materials is your cost plus a markup for supply runs, waste and returns. Drive is round-trip miles times your per-mile cost, plus drive hours at your rate. Disposal and permits are flat fees you shouldn't bury in labor.

The total is a sanity check for the price you write on a quote — not the quote itself. Put each piece on its own line so the customer sees the scope, not your markup. Full walkthrough: how to price a job.

Calculator questions

How does the estimate calculator work?

It adds four things: labor hours times your hourly rate, materials cost plus your markup, round-trip miles times your per-mile cost plus drive hours at your rate, and disposal and permit fees. It's the same method as our how-to-price-a-job guide.

Is the calculator saved or sent anywhere?

No. The math runs in your browser. Nothing you type is stored or sent.

Can I use it for painting or roofing estimates?

Yes. The method is the same in every trade. For painting, put prep and coats in the labor hours. For roofing, put tear-off, decking and install hours in labor and dump fees in disposal.
